More Six Figure South Point Yearlings at NY Bred Preferred Sale

After two highly successful evenings at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select sale, two more South Point yearlings brought big prices during the New York Bred Preferred sessions on August 11 and 12.

Hip 520, a filly from the first crop by Normandy Invasion was hammered down for $170,000 to trainer Chad Brown and agent Mike Ryan under the Vineyard Ventures moniker. The price is by far the highest for a yearling by the multiple Graded-placed son of Tapit and represents a successful pinhook for the partnership of Sarah Thompson, Brenda Jones and Danielle Jones. The trio purchased the filly for $30,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall auction where she was the co-highest-priced weanling by a first crop stallion standing in New York. South Point also sold the highest-priced yearling by Fast Anna, Hip 450, who was purchased by agent Mike Ryan for $150,000. The attractive bay filly is out of the Holy Bull daughter Holy Smokie and is a half sister to a pair of blacktype runners including the California stakes winner and Graded-placed Conquest Fahrenheit.
