Rockbridge Bloodstock 2YO Buy Rolls by 9 1/2 in Second Start

Rack Gin was sent off as a 9-2 shot in his second start, a 6 1/2 furlong Maiden Special contest over the Gulfstream Park main track on July 12.

The sophomore colt was hustled out of the gate and chased early leader Handsome Chewy before overtaking that rival after a half-mile in :45.53. Roused in upper stretch, he drew away from his four rivals to a resounding 9 1/2- length tally. Favored Hip Hip Jorge, a Mark Casse-trained son of Tapit was left in his wake.

Rack Gin was purchased for $75,000 by Mike Recio’s Rockbridge Bloodstock and bloodstock agent John Fahey at the 2018 OBS April Two-Year-Old in Training sale.

Under the tutelage of trainer Bobby Dibona, Rack Gin made his racing debut on December 15 at Gulfstream Park. A sloppy track and big trouble out of the gate kept the colt from showing his true potential that afternoon. The race was won by Award Winner, most recently a closer runner up in the Grade 3 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park on July 6.

Rack Gin is a son of Airdrie Stud’s good racehorse sire Include out of the mare Forest Wildcat daughter Miso Pretty, dam of five other winners. He races for the partnership of Robert Murray, Jim Carroll and Michael P. Lynden.
