Mike Recio, through his Rockbridge Bloodstock agency, found new homes for three exciting stallion prospects – Blended Citizen, Isotherm and Vorticity – for the 2021 breeding season.
Sayjay Racing LLC’s, Greg Hall and Brooke Hubbard’s multiple graded stakes winner Blended Citizen will begin his second career at Collett Equine Veterinary Service in Oklahoma.
Bred by Ray Hanson, Blended Citizen is by Gone West’s most underrated son, Proud Citizen, out of the multiple stakes-winning Langfuhr mare Langara Lass. This makes him a half-brother to stakes-winning millionaire Lookin At Lee, runner-up in the 2017 Kentucky Derby.
Blended Citizen was a Classics contender himself after graded wins in the Jeff Ruby Stakes (G3) over Turfway Park’s all-weather surface and a score in the Peter Pan S. (G3) at Belmont Park.
Isotherm, who will stand at Swifty Farms in Indiana, and Vorticity both achieved stakes success racing in the colors of Matthew Schera
Isotherm won the Grade 2 Pilgrim Stakes on the grass as a juvenile to earn a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1). He went on to add the San Marcos S. (G2), also on the grass. The son of Lonhro was adept on the dirt as well, placing in multiple graded dirt races, including a good 3rd in the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes. He retired with $527,294 in the bank.
Schera purchased the speedy Vorticity at the 2015 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Old in Training sale for $220,000 and the son of Distorted Humor was a stakes winner by year’s end. He used a wire-to-wire maiden special victory at Aqueduct going 7 furlongs as a launching pad to a similar triumph in the $100,000 Marylander Stakes at Laurel.
Vorticity then embarked on the 2016 Kentucky Derby trail with strong placings in both the Jerome Stakes (G3) and Withers Stakes (G3). He retires with $347,040 in the bank, earning blacktype on two more occasions including a sharp 3rd to Catalina Cruiser and Battle of Midway in the Grade 2 Pat O’Brien Stakes at Del Mar.
“I look at a lot of stride data, and Vorticity had a very large stride and he had a very efficient way of going,” noted Schera.
Vorticity will enter stud at Pellinor Lane in Summit Point, West Virginia.
