Sent off the 3-2 favorite, the dark bay colt was away alertly and quickly assumed command, setting fractions of :22.42 and :45.22 while under a snug hold. He extended his advantage nearing the stretch and sailed clear down the lane under a motionless Mario Gutierrez to score by 9 1/2 lengths and became the 12th winner for his freshman sire.

Devil Made Me Doit, was originally purchased from his breeder Ben P. Walden as a weanling for $43,000 by Rockbridge Bloodstock client Stone Bridge Farm. The colt went through the ring again with South Point Sales at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale, where he was hammered down to Ciaran Dunne and Paul Reddam’s Red Wings pinhooking partnership for $72,000. He was subsequently bought back for $245,000 after working a quarter in :20 3/5 at this year’s OBS June sale.
Devil Made Me Doit is the first foal out of the U S Ranger daughter Bible. Devil Made Me Doit’s third dam is Multiply, who produced Grade I winner Corinthian.
Devil Made Me Doit 103rd winner for South Point Sales in 2019 and adds to an already sensational year for the South Point grads.
