Colonial Creed ran in to a pair of buzzsaws in her first two starts, finishing second to future Stakes winner Summering and the expensive Scat Daddy lass Rayana at Del Mar over the summer. After an off-the-board outing down the tricky Santa Anita hillside turf course, Colonial Creed returned to Del Mar and rolled an impressive victory.
Zipping directly to the vanguard, Colonial Creed slid over to the rail from gate nine and posted fractions of :23.12 and :47.36. Shaking loose of her pursuers on the home bend, she had to contend with the rallying My Sweet Baboo to her inside in midstretch, but maintained a comfortable advantage late to win by 1 1/2 lengths. The 2-year-old filly earned a sparkling 106 Equibase Speed Figure for the effort. My Sweet Baboo held second.

Colonial Creed is a half-sister to Stakes winner Mo D’Amour and was offered by South Point Sales at last year’s Keeneland September auction. The daughter of rising sire Jimmy Creed was bred by Doug & Felicia Branham on advice of Mike Recio/Rockbridge Bloodstock, South Point Sales’ bloodstock arm.
Colonial Creed is the 72nd winner in 2018 who’s graduated from the South Point Sales program and second weekend winner along with La Prevoyante S. heroine She’s The Berries.
